Yes — to rent an exotic car with GKHT Exotics you must carry your own full comprehensive and collision insurance, and it has to extend to a vehicle you do not own. We do not sell or include insurance. This is the single most important thing to sort out before you book, because it is where most rentals get delayed.

What coverage you need

  • Liability of at least 100/300/100, or a $300,000 combined single limit.
  • Comprehensive and collision (physical damage) that applies to a non-owned vehicle and pays at a level appropriate to the car you are renting.
  • The policy must be in your own name — the same name as the driver and the booking.

Many personal auto policies quietly cap physical-damage coverage on a non-owned vehicle well below their normal collision limit. Call your insurer and ask specifically what they would pay on a rented exotic before you book.

How verification works

Before we release the car, we confirm your coverage — often by calling your insurer with you on the line. It takes a few minutes at pickup, so build in the time. Bring your insurance card and be ready to add the vehicle temporarily if your insurer requires it.

What about credit-card rental coverage?

Most credit-card rental benefits exclude exotic and high-value vehicles outright, and those that don’t are usually secondary to your own policy. Do not assume your card covers a Lamborghini — read the benefit terms, and plan to rely on your own comprehensive and collision coverage.

Why we require it

Requiring your own coverage is exactly what lets us rent to more drivers, including responsible 18-year-olds, rather than refusing anyone under 25. Proper insurance plus a refundable deposit protects both sides and keeps the car on the road.
